Installing a network printer can sometimes seem like a big task but in reality it is not too difficult.
What you need to do is go to control panel and then choose the printers option. Then select add printers.
This is the part that can get a little tricky… Now choose a local printer and NOT a network printer, and then uncheck the box that says ‘Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer’. The reason that you do this is because you do not want your computer to search for a printer physically attached to your computer. Click next.
Then choose Create a new port – and select a ‘Standard TCP/IP Port.’
Then add the IP address of the printer in the top box then click next. the computer will either automatically install the drivers for the printer or ask you to direct it to the drivers – either using the CD or locating the driver on your network.
